Choosing from our Marble Dust Idols
What we call marble dust or antique ivory finish idols are cultured marble pieces — Ganesha, Shiva, Hanuman, Kuber and wall hangings — finished to look like aged ivory or stone rather than the bright polish of cast brass. It's a distinct look from our brass murtis: matte, pale, and closer to a museum statue than a temple idol, though used for the same devotional and decor purposes.
How this differs from brass or wood
These pieces are heavier and more rigid than wood, and unlike brass they don't need polishing — the finish is fixed at the time of casting and shouldn't be treated with metal polish or acidic cleaners.

What is a marble dust or antique ivory finish idol made of?
Cultured marble — powdered marble bound with resin and cast in a mould, then finished to give an aged, ivory-toned surface. It isn't solid marble stone, and it isn't metal.
How do I clean an antique ivory finish idol?
Dry dusting only. The finish is a fixed surface treatment, not tarnish, so lemon, tamarind or metal polish will damage rather than clean it.
Is this finish suitable for daily worship, or just display?
Both, though it's less tolerant of daily abhishek than brass. If the idol will be bathed regularly, brass is the more durable choice; if it's for a display altar or gifting, this finish works well.
Why does it look different from your brass idols?
Cultured marble is cast pale and matte to resemble aged ivory or stone, while brass is cast and polished to a warm gold tone. They're different materials chosen for different aesthetics, not a quality difference.
Are these fragile compared to brass or wood pieces?
They're more rigid than wood but can chip if dropped, similar to any cast stone-composite piece. Pack and unpack carefully, and avoid placing them where they could be knocked off a shelf.
