Description
Same jali (cut lattice) technique as our carved owl, applied to an elephant body instead — the lattice sections are cut all the way through rather than carved as surface texture, which is why the piece looks different depending on the light behind it.
Hand-carved wood, 4 inches. Elephants carry a stronger religious association than most of our wooden pieces, loosely tied to Ganesha and used generally as a wisdom-and-stability symbol, though this figure is sold as decor rather than a devotional idol.
